We can’t wait to celebrate our wedding with you in Italy, one of our favorite places in the world!

After living in Milan together during the summer of 2017, Italy has become such a special place to us, and we can’t wait to bring together the people that mean the most to us to show you why we love it so much.

Travel Tips

Flights

Typically flight prices are cheapest 4-7 months in advance, and we recommend booking your flights as soon as you see a reasonable price. A ballpark estimate for a good round trip price is about $800. Keep in mind that you might want to book 2 one-way flights from different airports if you plan on traveling more before or after the wedding.

Closest Major Airports

For the cheapest flights, we recommend flying into Rome.

For the shortest drive from the airport, we recommend flying into Florence.

  • Option 1: Rental Car from Florence airport to Cortona (1.5 hr drive, Recommended option for freedom to drive around and fully experience Tuscany.

  • Option 2: Non-Stop train from Florence to Camucia (1 hour, $15-$20), then take a short bus from Camucia to Cortona or arrange a car transfer from hotel/airbnb (10 minutes).

Renting a car

Typically flight prices are cheapest 4-7 months in advance, but if you find good flights with prices that Google Flights classifies as “low” we recommend booking those even if it’s more than 7 months in advance. A good ballpark estimate for a reasonable price is about $800.

Closest Major Airports

For the cheapest flights, we recommend flying into Rome.

For the most convenience, we recommend flying into Florence.

If you want to spend time exploring Tuscany and going to different wineries/restaurants that aren’t directly in Cortona, we recommend renting a car, because Tuscany is very spread out.

However, if you prefer not to, the trains are still a great option, and you can still explore the larger towns in Tuscany by train and/or book a tour that takes you to the smaller towns and wineries.

Things to Note:

Drivers license

You are required to get an international drivers license to drive in Italy, but it is a very quick process by going to AAA

Costs

If you can drive a stick shift, rental cars will be very inexpensive, but an automatic car will be more expensive

Driving in Italy

Driving around Tuscany is very easy and there is very little traffic.
We recommend just watching a youtube video about Italian street signs beforehand

Accomodation

We curated a list of some of the most beautiful and highly rated hotels and Airbnbs in the area. There are great options directly in the town of Cortona,

as well as beautiful villa hotels and Airbnbs in the countryside.
